Minaxin C is a diterpene from the thymelaeaceae family of plants. It has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Minaxin C inhibits tumour cell proliferation by binding to DNA and inhibiting the synthesis of RNA and protein, which are essential for the growth of cancer cells. The compound also induces apoptosis in tumour cells, including leukaemia and cervical cancer cells. Minaxin C has been shown to inhibit the production of human lung carcinoma MRC-5 cells, which may be due to its inhibition of biosynthesis pathways.
