Descripción:
3,4-Dihydro-1,5-naphthyridin-2(1H)-one is a heterocyclyl compound that inhibits glycogen phosphorylase. It is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme and has been shown to inhibit the phosphorylase activity in glycogenolysis. 3,4-Dihydro-1,5-naphthyridin-2(1H)-one also inhibits phosphorylase activity in amide derivatives and amides. This inhibition prevents the conversion of glycogen to glucose 1-phosphate and leads to an accumulation of glycogen in muscle cells. The hydroxy and carboxy groups of 3,4-dihydro-1,5-naphthyridin-2(1H)-one are responsible for its inhibitory effects on phosphorylase activity.
