Methyl Azetidine-3-carboxylate hydrochloride is a drug that is used to treat autoimmune diseases. It is an orally active suppressant of immune system activity and has been shown in clinical studies to be effective in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. This drug has a number of pharmacological effects, including suppression of levels of autoantibodies (e.g., rheumatoid factor) and induction of regulatory T cells, which are important for the regulation of autoimmune responses. Methyl Azetidine-3-carboxylate hydrochloride has been shown to be effective at doses as low as 0.1mg/kg/day; however, the optimal dose for suppression remains unknown.
Methyl Azetidine-3-carboxylate hydrochloride is structurally related to thiazolopyridines and may have similar effects on inflammatory conditions.
