Ginsenoside Rh8 is a saponin found in plant natural products, such as ginseng. It can be extracted from the roots of Panax ginseng and is a major constituent of these plants. Ginsenoside Rh8 has been shown to have emulsifying properties, which may be due to its ability to form mixed micelles with phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). Ginsenoside Rh8 also has strong herbivore-repellent effects. Ginsenoside Rh8 has been reported to have pharmacological effects on the central nervous system, including sedation and amnesia.
