The insecticidal activity of α-chloro-4-fluorobenzaldoxime is due to its ability to inhibit tyrosine hydroxylase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of tyrosine into dopamine, leading to decreased levels of dopamine in the brain. This causes insects to become unable to control their movements, resulting in death by starvation or dehydration.
