GSK8573 binds to the bromodomain of the BRD4 protein, which is found in high levels in some cancer cells. This binding inhibits gene transcription, leading to cell death. The pharmacokinetic properties of GSK8573 have been studied in rats, dogs, and monkeys and show that it can cross the blood-brain barrier. However, more research is needed on its pharmacokinetic properties in humans.
