BI-671800 is a nitro compound that has been shown to be an effective therapy for asthma by reducing the production of inflammatory molecules. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme glutaminyl cyclase, which regulates the level of glutamate in cells. This drug also reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and nitric oxide through its ability to inhibit the expression of CRTH2 receptors. BI-671800 has been shown to be safe and have a good safety profile. The drug has also demonstrated statistically significant effects on autoimmune diseases in animal models. BI-671800 is not active against tautomers, but it does bind to glutaminyl residues on proteins with high affinity.
