Descripción:VU 0155041 is a low potency neuroprotective agent that has been shown to have antioxidative properties. It has been shown in animal studies to protect against oxidative injury by reducing the formation of reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxidation, which are responsible for cell damage. VU 0155041 also inhibits glutamate-induced toxicity in rat brain slices. In addition, VU 0155041 has been shown to have pharmacological effects on neurotransmission and transcriptional regulation. The drug has not yet been tested on humans, but it is thought that this drug may be useful as a treatment for stroke or head trauma; it may also be useful as a treatment for Parkinson's disease or epilepsy.
