Descripción:Lenalidomide is a synthetic drug that binds to the surface of cells, preventing the release of lysosomal enzymes. The drug is metabolized in the liver by hydrolysis and oxidation, yielding the active form, lenalidomide-hydrochloride. It is used as an oral treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome and myeloproliferative diseases, such as chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Lenalidomide has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. It also inhibits nitric oxide production and may be effective against environmental pollution.
