2,5,8,11-Tetraoxatetradec-13-ene is a reactive divalent hydrocarbon that can be used in coatings and as a chemical intermediate. It is prepared by the reaction of hexamethyldisilazane with 13-tetradecenyl chloride or 13-tetradecenal chloride. The optimum concentration of this compound is between 0.2% and 10%. This compound has been found to have gel permeation chromatography (GPC) molecular weights of 600 g/mol. The structural formula for this compound is shown below:
