Nagilactone B is a molecule that belongs to the class of natural products. It exhibits an inhibitory effect on the uptake of cholesterol in cells and has been shown to reduce levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Nagilactone B inhibits ATP binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1), which is involved in the cellular uptake of cholesterol. The molecule also inhibits messenger RNA (mRNA) expression for apolipoprotein A1 (APOA1) and liver receptor homolog-1 (LRH-1). Nagilactone B has been found to have anticancer activity in animal models and may be a potential treatment for cancer. This drug has also been shown to lower serum lipid levels, which could be beneficial for patients with hypercholesterolemia and other lipid disorders.
