6-Chloro-1,3-dimethyl-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbonitrile is a specific inhibitor of the IκB kinase (IKK). It has been shown to be effective against many inflammatory diseases in experimental models. 6CdmTHPC inhibits the expression of cytokine genes by preventing phosphorylation of IκBα and translocation. 6CdmTHPC also prevents the formation of complexes with transcription factors that regulate gene expression. This drug has high potency and may be repurposed for treatment of inflammatory diseases.
