It inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to the 30S ribosome subunit and blocking the peptidyl transferase reaction. Lithium potassium acetyl phosphate has been shown to be effective against tuberculosis, with its activity being pH-dependent. It is an acidic compound that reacts in an acidic solution to form lithium and phosphate ions, as well as acetate ions. The release of these ions causes a decrease in pH and may lead to disruption of cellular membranes, leading to cell death.
