Bacopaside X is a saponin extract from the plant Bacopa monnieri that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in geriatric patients. It has been shown to bind to 5-HT2A receptors, which are important for mood and anxiety regulation. The receptor binding activity of bacopaside X is also dependent on light exposure. In vitro studies have shown that bacopaside X can inhibit cyclic AMP formation and therefore may be useful in cancer treatment. Bacopaside X has not been found to interact with other drugs, but it does show significant interactions with natural compounds such as triterpenoid saponins, pharmaceutical preparations, and other phytochemicals.
