It has been shown to have strong binding constants with hydroxyl groups and aromatic amines. TMT also has the ability to form anion complexes with elements such as oxygen or nitrogen. This compound can be used as a tethering agent in supramolecular chemistry and is a good candidate for screening due to its small molecular size. TMT can react with benzene through imine formation, which leads to noncovalent binding.
