This compound binds to the enzyme RNA polymerase and inhibits protein synthesis by blocking mRNA transcription. N-Docosanoyl-glucopsychosine also blocks the production of growth factors and glutamate, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effects. It has been shown to have significant interactions with sequences in the body mass index gene, creatine, and molybdenum.
