Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycerol phosphate sodium is a drug substance that belongs to the group of growth factors. It is commonly used as an excipient in pharmaceutical formulations, such as tablets and capsules. Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycerol phosphate sodium has been shown to penetrate cell membranes and stimulate the uptake of other substances into cells. When incubated with monosodium salt, it forms a particle with a diameter of about 1 micron. This particle can be modified in a number of ways, including by ethoxylation or cremophor modification. Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycerol phosphate sodium stimulates the production of phosphatase and has been shown to inhibit cellular proliferation in caco-2 cells.
