• Descripción: (S)-1,3-Dibenzylpiperazine-2,5-dione is a piperazine derivative that inhibits the proliferation of erythroid cells. It is an analogue of mithramycin and has been shown to inhibit cell growth in chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia cell lines. This compound binds to the active site of DNA polymerase alpha, which prevents the enzyme from synthesizing DNA. The IC50 values for this drug are suboptimal, meaning that concentrations below the IC50 have anticancer activity. Synergic effects have also been observed with other anticancer drugs when used with (S)-1,3-Dibenzylpiperazine-2,5-dione.
