360A is a compound that has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It is a small molecule that binds to the translation initiation region of the mRNA transcript, blocking the ability of ribosomes to bind and initiate protein synthesis. 360A also binds to telomeres, leading to their degradation. This compound has been shown to be effective against fibrosarcoma cells and human telomeric DNA sequences. The mechanism of action for 360A is not well understood but may be due to its ability to form stable complexes with mammalian cell nuclei, which leads to cell death.
