• Descripción: 2-Ethoxy-5-[(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)sulfonyl]benzoic acid (EMSB) is a nitrogen and sulfonamide compound that belongs to the class of piperazine derivatives. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit in bacteria, preventing mRNA translation and inhibiting bacterial growth. EMSB has been shown to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus. EMSB also inhibits aminoacyl-tRNA binding and protein synthesis in bacteria. This drug has been shown to be active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates in laboratory tests.
