Trimethoxy(11-pentafluorophenoxyundecyl)silane is a compound that can be used as an absorber in infrared spectroscopy. It has been shown to enhance the absorption of radiation with a wavelength of 11.6µm in the near-infrared region, and also to modulate the fingerprint of biochemical molecules. Trimethoxy(11-pentafluorophenoxyundecyl)silane was used as a miniaturized sensor for detecting vibrations at frequencies between 20 and 200kHz. This compound could be used as an alternative to mercury in radiometers, which are instruments that measure radiant energy from the sun or other sources.
