Descripción:cis-2-Decene is an organic compound that is a structural isomer of the more common trans-2-decene. cis-2-Decene can be prepared by reacting styrene with ethylene chloride in the presence of an argon atmosphere and a copper catalyst. cis-2-Decene has a higher boiling point than its trans counterpart, and it is less reactive as well. This difference in reactivity can be attributed to the presence of electron delocalization in the molecule. The kinetic data for cis-2-decene and trans-2-decene are different, which may be due to the different steric hindrance caused by the two molecules.
