Descripción:1-Phenylpentan-3-one is a monoterpene hydrocarbon found in lavandula angustifolia that has anxiolytic properties. It is also an antinociceptive and nociceptive agent. 1-Phenylpentan-3-one binds to the GABA receptor, which inhibits the release of glutamate, resulting in decreased nerve activity. Clinical studies have shown that 1-phenylpentan-3-one can be used to treat anxiety disorders. Dopamine has been shown to bind to the same site as 1 phenylpentan 3 one, suggesting that this terpenoid may play a role in brain functions by affecting dopamine levels. Extracellular concentrations of 1 phenylpentan 3 one are high enough to be detected with mass spectrometry, suggesting that it may have potential use as a neuroprotective drug for brain injuries.
