2-(2,6-Dimethoxy-4-prop-1-enylphenoxy)-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is a sesquiterpene coumarin that belongs to the group of phenylpropanoid derivatives. It is found in the methanolic extract of Ferula species. Coumarins have been shown to have anticancer effects and some coumarins induce apoptosis in cancer cells. 2-(2,6-Dimethoxy-4-prop-1-enylphenoxy)-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol has shown anticancer activity against human cancer cell lines and induces apoptosis in these cells.
