5-(1H-Indol-3-yl)oxazole is a potent antioxidant that has been shown to have an antioxidative effect in cells. 5-(1H-Indol-3-yl)oxazole has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce apoptosis. It is a cytotoxic agent that may be used as a treatment for cancer, including prostate, breast, and ovarian cancers. This compound binds to DNA and prevents the synthesis of proteins by inhibiting the enzyme RNA polymerase II, which is required for transcription. 5-(1H-Indol-3-yl)oxazole also exhibits potent antioxidative activity against lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species (ROS).
