This reagent can also catalyze the deracemization of ethyl esters, which can lead to chiral products with high optical purity. 2-Fluoro-2-methylpropyl trifluoromethanesulfonate is also capable of transferring a variety of functional groups, including chloride, imine, and ethyl esters. The addition of lithium diisopropylamide (LDA) will convert this reagent into a dimeric form.
