Descripción

Omtriptolide is a tripterygium extract that has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. It is a potent immunosuppressant and anti-inflammatory agent. Omtriptolide binds to the Pg490 protein, which inhibits the proliferation of T cells and dendritic cells, leading to immunosuppression. Omtriptolide has also been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 by inhibiting MAPK activity. This compound may also have some effect on lung damage due to its ability to inhibit growth factors such as TGF-α, EGF and PDGF. The effects of omptriptolide on autoimmune diseases are not well understood, but it has been shown that this drug decreases the severity of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) in mice.
