IRX-A is a synthetic, orally bioavailable compound that binds to the interleukin receptor. IRX-A is an antagonist of the anti-inflammatory response elements. This drug has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting tumor cells from entering the cell cycle. IRX-A binds to nuclear receptors and modulates transcriptional activity, which may be due to its ability as a potential antineoplastic agent. The heterodimeric nature of IRX-A has been proposed as a possible mechanism for its anticancer effects on lung cancer cells and other cancer types.
