The gene product is a 5-fluoro-2-methyl-N-(4-fluoro-3-(3-imino-2,5-dimethyl-1,1,4, thiadiazinan-5-yl)phenyl)picolinamide 2,2,2 trifluoroacetate. The compound is a potent inhibitor of the metabolic pathway that produces isovaleric acid. It inhibits the conversion of acetyl coenzyme A to propionyl coenzyme A by inhibiting the enzyme butyryl coenzyme A dehydrogenase and therefore prevents the formation of butyric acid. The compound also has inactivated sequences and biosynthesis.
The compound may be useful in cancer treatment because it inhibits the production of isobutyric acid and butyric acid from the metabolism of glucose and can be used to inhibit radiation treatment with radiation therapy.
