• Descripción: Lapatinib is a potent and selective small molecule that inhibits the tyrosine kinase activity of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) and the related receptor tyrosine kinases, HER2/neu. The drug is used in research to study protein interactions with ligands and receptors, and as an inhibitor in pharmacological studies. Lapatinib binds to the ATP binding site of EGFR, preventing its activation by binding to peptide ligands or antibodies. It also binds to the ATP binding site of HER2/neu, preventing its activation by binding to peptide ligands or antibodies. Lapatinib also binds to G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), but does not inhibit their activity.
