5-TAMRA-alkyne is a modified nucleoside that is used in molecular biology and proteomics. It can be used to label amino acids for the study of protein expression and modification, or as a fluorescent probe for the visualization of DNA. 5-TAMRA-alkyne can be used to measure changes in proteins, such as those involved in coagulation or proteolysis. This molecule also has been shown to minimize radiationless transfer between molecules, which makes it useful for microscopy applications. 5-TAMRA-alkyne is suitable for eukaryotic systems and can be used as a ligand in 2-azido-2deoxyglucose (2ADG) labeling studies. 5-TAMRA-alkyne has been shown to have fluorescence properties at room temperature with an emission maximum at 525 nm when excited at 290 nm.
