H2L 5765834 is a glutathione-based prodrug that has been shown to be effective in protecting against the death of cells induced by oxidative stress. It has been shown to protect neurons from cell death caused by neurodegenerative diseases and inflammatory cytokines. H2L 5765834 was also able to prevent the development of symptoms and pathology seen in carotid cancer and acetaminophen toxicity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and other inflammatory cytokines.
