BMS-345541 is a new analog of imidazo[1,2-a]quinoxalin-4(5H)-one that has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It inhibits cell growth and induces the expression of proapoptotic proteins such as Bax and caspase-3. BMS-345541's mechanism of action appears to be related to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and the expression of proteins involved in cell cycle progression, such as CDK4 and cyclin D1. BMS-345541 may also have anticancer activity through inhibition of cancer cell migration and angiogenesis.
