M443 is a platinum coordination complex that is being investigated as a possible cancer therapeutic. It has been shown to possess microstructural properties that are similar to those of the human brain. M443 has also been shown to be virulent in some cancerous cell lines, but not in normal cells. M443 is thought to have an effect on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process by altering DNA structure and by inhibiting histone h3 synthesis. The thermodynamic properties of this molecule may provide clues into its cancer-fighting potential, as well as its mechanism of action.
