Ethyl 3-Acetoxyhexanoate is a lipid that is used in the food industry as a flavor and fragrance additive. It has a pleasant fruity odor with a fatty, buttery taste. Ethyl 3-Acetoxyhexanoate is found in many fruits such as cantaloupe, apricots, and oranges. It is also present in animal products such as milk, butter, and cheese. In addition to its use as an additive, it can be used for the production of polymers such as polyesters and polyamides. Ethyl 3-Acetoxyhexanoate can be synthesized by lipolysis of ethyl hexanoate or by acidolysis of either ethyl acetate or butyric acid.
