Leukotriene B4 is a type of leukotriene that is produced by white blood cells and plays an important role in the inflammatory process. Leukotriene B4 binds to the leukocyte cell surface receptors and triggers a series of reactions, which result in an increase in its concentration. Leukotriene B4 has been shown to have pluripotent properties (i.e., it can turn into any tissue) and it may be involved in the development of bowel disease. The optimum concentration of leukotriene B4 for human polymorphonuclear leukocytes was found to be 10-5 M, while 10-6 M was optimal for human polymorphonuclear leucocytes.
