Schizandriside is a phenolic compound found in the plant Alchornea cordifolia. This compound has been shown to have inhibitory activities against methyl alcohol, silver trifluoromethanesulfonate (AgF3SO4), and other metal ions. Schizandriside also has antioxidative activity and can be used as a health functional food or as an additive for cosmetics products, such as hair care products. Schizandriside has been shown to significantly reduce the growth rate of several cancer cell lines, including follicle cells and breast cancer cells. It can also be used to detect the presence of flavonoids in plants by using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS).
