Artanin is a prenylflavonoid that has been found to have anticancer activity. It binds to the dna binding domains in the geniculate nucleus and inhibits the synthesis of proteins. Artanin also inhibits the activity of kinases, which are enzymes that regulate protein synthesis by adding phosphate groups to other proteins. This drug is effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which are bacteria that cause infections in humans. Artanin may also be used as an alternative chemotherapy drug for patients who are resistant to tetracycline treatment.
