Pancoprida is a fatty acid that has been used in pharmaceutical dosage for the treatment of high blood pressure. Pancoprida is also used to diagnose and monitor the progress of some conditions. The active form, pancuronium bromide, binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor at neuromuscular junctions and blocks nerve impulses, leading to muscle relaxation. Pancoprida is degradable by liver enzymes and reactive with oxygen, which may result in its conversion into reactive functional groups. These groups are responsible for pancoprida's emetogenic chemotherapy effect. Pancoprida may also be conjugated with other drugs such as 5-ht3 antagonists to enhance their antiemetic effects.
