Descripción:3-Fluoro-2-methyl-6-nitrobenzoic acid is a regioselective nitration agent that can be used for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid. This compound has been shown to possess nucleophilicity and regioselectivity in the nitration of benzene. The 3-fluorine substituent on the aromatic ring of benzoic acid increases its electrophilicity and therefore enhances its reactivity with electrophilic reagents. This allows for the selective nitration of 2-methylbenzoic acid and not 1-methylbenzoic acid, which is due to sterics.
