LCH-7749944 is a potent inhibitor of the kinase activity of β-catenin. It binds to the ATP binding site and blocks the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of β-catenin, which inhibits its ability to translocate into the nucleus and function as a transcription factor. LCH-7749944 has shown efficacy in preclinical models for cancer and inflammatory diseases. The drug was shown to inhibit the growth of human fibroblasts in culture, leading to cell death. LCH-7749944 also showed an inhibitory effect on epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathways that have been implicated in many cancers.
