1,1,3-Trioxo-2,3-dihydro-1,2-benzothiazole-5-carboxylic acid is a carboxylic acid that can be prepared by sulfonation of 1,1,3-trioxo-2,3-dihydrobenzthiazole with sulfur dioxide and hydrochloric acid. This compound has been used as a sweetener in the food industry. It is also used as a precursor for other compounds such as 2,2′-[1,4]oxazinane and 2-[(pyridinium methylsulfonyl)amino]-N-(pyridinium methylsulfonyl) acetamide.
