Descripción:
Cicaprost is a prostanoid which is chemically related to PGF2α. It has been shown to be an effective analgesic that has a prolonged duration of action, and it also has antiproliferative effects on some tumors. Cicaprost has high lipophilicity due to its four hydroxyl groups, resulting in a large volume of distribution and long half-life. Its affinity for the prostanoid receptor is increased by the presence of an electron-donating group at C4. The drug has been tested in vitro and in vivo using behavioral assays and animal models of pain. In these experiments, cicaprost was found to have similar efficacy as iloprost or indomethacin but with less toxicity than either drug.
