Cytosporone B is a polymerase chain inhibitor that belongs to the class of cytotoxic drugs. Cytosporone B inhibits the transcription of pro-apoptotic proteins, such as caspase-3, by binding to their dna binding activity. It also has been shown to inhibit cellular physiology, such as chemoattractant protein production and transcriptional regulation. Cytosporone B binds to nuclear DNA and prevents transcription from occurring. The drug may be used in chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients with metabolic disorders.
