1,3-Di-tert-butylbenzimidazolium chloride is a ligand that belongs to the group of homoleptic ligands. It has a coordination environment that consists of a single metal ion and three oxygen atoms. The two carbons are located on opposite sides of the plane of the ring and each have one hydrogen atom attached to it. The third carbon is not bonded to any other carbons in the ring. 1,3-Di-tert-butylbenzimidazolium chloride has been shown to be an effective catalyst for reactions involving organometallic reagents, such as Grignard reagents and organolithium reagents. This ligand also exhibits magnetic properties, which may be due to its high degree of unsaturation.
