PI 103 hydrochloride is a synthetic molecule that has been modified to target cancer cells expressing c1-c3 receptors. It acts by binding to the cell membrane, which can trigger apoptosis. PI 103 hydrochloride was shown to be effective in preventing the growth of pancreatic cancer cells in mice, and has been evaluated as a potential treatment for cancer. This drug has also been used to improve gene expression in HIV/AIDS patients by introducing it into viral vectors, where it restructures the DNA molecule and increases transcription of genes involved in protein production.
