SPK-601 is a chemical compound that inhibits the ATP-binding cassette transporter (ABC) of cell membranes. SPK-601 is designed to be a potent inhibitor of ABC proteins, and it has been shown to be effective in vitro against cells from basic fibroblast (BF) cultures, pluripotent cells and neurons. SPK-601 has been shown to inhibit p21 and neuronal death in vitro. It also has potential as an anti-infective agent as well as an immunosuppressant for autoimmune diseases. SPK-601 is chemically stable, which makes it suitable for use in vivo studies on animals or humans.
