Palbociclib dihydrochloride is a prodrug that is metabolized to palbociclib. It is used in the treatment of breast cancer and prostate cancer. Palbociclib has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of mutated proteins that are responsible for tumor growth and metastasis. The crystalline form of this drug has demonstrated poor bioavailability, as well as high rates of degraders. The monohydrochloride form has demonstrated better bioavailability and decreased rates of degraders.
