Omadacycline hydrochloride is a natural antibiotic that has antiparasitic, antibacterial and antiviral properties. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. Omadacycline hydrochloride also prevents the assembly of viral capsids by interfering with the production of viral proteins. This drug is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as some fungi and protozoa. Omadacycline hydrochloride is not active against viruses such as HIV or Hepatitis B virus.
