1-Deoxysphinganine-d3 is a natural compound that is produced by the action of sphingosine kinase on sphinganine. It has been shown to inhibit hepatic steatosis and lipid accumulation in mice, as well as insulin resistance in cultured human cells. 1-Deoxysphinganine-d3 reduces the concentration of fatty acids and cholesterol in the liver. It also inhibits the activity of lipogenic enzymes such as acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase, fatty acid synthase, and glycerol 3-phosphate dehydrogenase. The mechanisms behind 1-deoxysphinganine-d3's ability to impact human cells are not yet fully understood.
